From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free.

Cousteau (1910 – 1997) dedicated his life to the underwater exploring the unknown and inaccessible ocean. He was a naval officer, explorer, ecologist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher. He developed the aqua-lung which gave birth to the open-circuit scuba technology used today. In 1956 Cousteau won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for “The Silent World”, a documentary noted as the first film to use underwater cinematography to show the ocean depths in color.
